Prim. DDr. Burghard Abendstein

Prim. DDr. Burghard Abendstein is a distinguished specialist in obstetrics, gynecology, and general surgery, with more than three decades of clinical experience and over 25 years in senior departmental leadership.
After completing his medical studies and specialist training in Innsbruck, complemented by a research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, he led the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at LKH Hall from 2000 to 2015. Since 2016, he has headed the department at LKH Feldkirch and Bludenz.
His expertise encompasses advanced vaginal, minimally invasive, and robotic surgery, urogynecology, pelvic-floor reconstruction, obstetrics, endometriosis, and gynecological oncology. A dedicated surgeon, educator, and mentor, he is deeply committed to innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, and international medical education.

Dr. med. univ. Abdelrahman Abouelhassan, MD, MBBCh, M.Sc.

Dr. Abdelrahman Abouelhassan is an obstetrician and gynaecological surgeon with a clinical focus on operative obstetrics, high-risk pregnancy, minimally invasive surgery, urogynecology and pelvic floor reconstruction.
He completed his clinical and surgical training at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital in Cairo, one of the world’s largest tertiary maternity centres, with more than 18,000 births annually. He subsequently continued his career in Germany and Austria and currently practises at Feldkirch Academic Teaching Hospital.
Alongside his clinical work, he is actively involved in research, surgical innovation and medical education. His current work includes the development and scientific evaluation of a novel uterotomy closure technique following caesarean section, designed to improve uterine healing and reduce scar niche formation.
With more than a decade of experience in international medical education, he founded EDI Organisation e.U. to connect expertise across borders and translate shared knowledge into better care for women.
Dr. Mohamed Elsewefy, MBBCh, M.Sc., PhD, MRCOG
Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist

Dr. Mohamed Elsewefy is an accomplished obstetrician, gynecologist, and medical educator with extensive experience in complex and operative obstetrics.
He completed his specialist training at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital in Cairo—one of the region’s largest tertiary maternity centres, managing approximately 18,000 births annually. After completing his M.Sc. and PhD, he was appointed Lecturer and Consultant at Ain Shams University and subsequently obtained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG).
Currently practising at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth, he combines substantial experience from high-volume tertiary maternity care with contemporary UK clinical practice. Across EDI’s educational programmes, Dr. Elsewefy contributes his practical expertise, international perspective, and commitment to evidence-based training and patient safety.
Dr. med. univ. Caroline Ender, IBCLC
Senior Consultant and Head of Obstetrics | Landeskrankenhaus Feldkirch, Austria
Dr. Caroline Ender is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology and serves as Senior Consultant and Head of Obstetrics at Landeskrankenhaus Feldkirch, one of Austria’s leading centres for specialised obstetric and perinatal care. In this role, she combines clinical leadership with extensive experience in modern, patient-centred maternity care.
Her professional expertise encompasses pregnancy and childbirth, postpartum care, breastfeeding medicine, birth-related trauma, and women’s sexual health. As an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), she is closely involved in the development of specialised, individualised support for expectant mothers, new mothers, and their families.
Dr. Ender also holds the Austrian Medical Chamber Diploma in Sexual Medicine. Her work promotes an open, respectful, and inclusive approach to sexuality throughout pregnancy, the postpartum period, and the different stages of a woman’s life.
A dedicated clinician and educator, she is particularly committed to interdisciplinary collaboration between doctors, midwives, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals. Across EDI’s educational programmes and hands-on workshops, Dr. Ender contributes a distinctive combination of clinical expertise, compassionate communication, and a holistic understanding of women’s health.
Dr. Mohamed Gaber, MBBCh, M.Sc., PhD, MRCOG

Dr. Mohamed Gaber is an accomplished obstetrician, gynecologist, and medical educator whose career combines extensive experience in high-volume tertiary maternity care with contemporary clinical practice in the United Kingdom.
He graduated from Ain Shams University in Cairo and completed his specialist training at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital—one of the region’s largest tertiary referral centres, managing approximately 18,000 births annually. This demanding environment provided him with substantial experience in complex obstetrics, obstetric emergencies, operative delivery, and multidisciplinary maternity care.
Following completion of his PhD, Dr. Gaber was appointed Lecturer and Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ain Shams University. He subsequently obtained Membership of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) and currently continues his clinical career at Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
Bringing together experience from the Egyptian and British healthcare systems, Dr. Gaber offers a valuable international perspective on maternity care, clinical decision-making, and patient safety. Across EDI’s educational programmes, he is valued for his engaging teaching style, practical expertise, and commitment to translating evidence into confident everyday clinical practice.

Dr. Mahmoud Amr Nadim is an accomplished obstetrician, gynecologist, and medical educator whose career combines extensive experience in high-volume tertiary maternity care with contemporary clinical practice in Germany.
He graduated from Ain Shams University in Cairo and completed his specialist training at Ain Shams University Maternity Hospital—one of the region’s largest tertiary referral centres, managing approximately 18,000 births annually. This demanding environment provided him with substantial experience in complex obstetrics, obstetric emergencies, operative delivery, and gynecological surgery.
Following completion of his PhD, Dr. Nadim was appointed Lecturer and Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Ain Shams University. He subsequently continued his clinical career in Germany and currently serves as Deputy Head and Senior Consultant at St. Marien-Krankenhaus Ahaus.
